Verbier

Overview

Verbier is an Alpine village in Switzerland’s Valais Canton. It's the gateway to the 4 Vallées ski area. Trails on Mont Fort Glacier have views of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc.

Description

Mont Gelé is known for its off-piste ski slopes. South, in secluded Haut Val de Bagnes nature reserve, waterfalls cascade into Mauvoisin Lake, site of the arched Mauvoisin Dam. Alpine-inspired art dots the 3D Foundation's Sculpture Park. Ritzy Verbier is the diamond of the Valaisian Alps: small, stratospherically expensive and cut at all the right angles to make it sparkle in the eyes of accomplished skiers and piste-bashing stars. Yet despite its ritzy packaging, Verbier is that rare beast of a resort – all things to all people. It swings from schnapps-fuelled debauchery to VIP lounges, bunker hostels to design-oriented hotels, burgers to Michelin stars. Here ski bums and celebs slalom in harmony on powder that is legendary.
